Look at http://www.resellerratings.com

In the center of the page is a place to enter the name of the store and see how it compares/rates.

I like shopping at:
http://www.buydig.com
http://www.bhphotovideo.com
http://www.butterflyphoto.com

I know these are reliable places.

Anyone selling a D300 for less than 90% of the normal street price is likely to be perpetrating fraud.

Same goes for buying from any internet shop based out of Brooklyn (or to a lesser extent anywhere in the greater NYC area, though there are legitimate outfits operating in this region).

I agree with anthony above.
I would purchase from BHPhoto&Video.
Reliable source, trained sales people, and 100% efficient.

Good luck!

The site must be offering its own warranty and not that of company warranty. The prices are low due to what they call direct import products. This means the product is imported by someone other than the licensed importer and hence it avoids all the operating expenses and advertising costs and hence its possible to sell cheap. The lowest is at US$ 1179 as compared to the US$ 1799 official price. Even some of the popular sites use this strategy
